OUR COMMUNITY
At Wrights Flour, we’re proud to be part of the local community and value the connections we’ve built over the years. Whether it’s supporting local initiatives, working with schools, or teaming up with nearby businesses, we’re committed to making a positive difference.
This space is where we share updates, celebrate collaborations, and highlight the ways we’re working together to support our community.
Wrights are proud to sponsor Frontier Ladies FC the new football team in Harlow playing Essex Women Division 1
Wrights are proud to work with Parndon Mill in Harlow. The site was originally a flour mill mentioned in the Domesday Book (as was our own mill at Ponders End) but is now a creative activity hub for local artists and craftsmen.
We worked with a project called Hinterlands - a community arts engagement programme conceived by Canal & River Trust, aiming to creatively engage Enfield residents' and visitors in the River Lea/Lee Navigation and its waterside.
As part of the Hinterlands programme, they delivered a heritage project with students from Oasis & Hadley Academies in Enfield called The History Detectives. The students were supported to excavate the hidden histories relating to the industrial heritage of the canal and the people who have worked and lived in the area for generations. Students worked with a digital media artist to transform the stories and information they have gathered into a mobile app which will celebrate the rich industrial heritage of in/around the canal and enable people to become better informed about the area.
The audio-visual project of the mill can be seen here.
We worked with Ben Nathan – an Enfield based artist who runs a photography project called Pinhole London. This project works with young people from Enact Community’s Youth Club in Enfield Island Village, on a national heritage lottery funded project called ‘Enfield’s forgotten Canal’ which explores past and present images of the canal and the heritage and industries around it.
